Ergonomic Evaluations In San Mateo
We offer ergonomic and body mechanics support to a variety of work environments, from office to warehouse, our goal is to support the worker in their environment to train safe behaviors to avoid injury and loss of time performing tasks.
What is Ergonomics?
Ergon is Greek for ‘work’. Ergonomics is the study of people’s efficiency in their work environment. It evaluates employees as they work to help create a more efficient work behavior in their workstation. Ergonomics is something Chiropractic is focused on as it affects posture, causes pain, and can be something leading to lower back pain and neck pain.
Why is Ergonomics Important?
Ergonomics is preventative care by addressing potential causes of aches and pains through poor posture, and symptoms such as numbness or tingling, pain in the neck and low back. Disruptive disorders can also arise from poor ergonomics including Carpal Tunnel, Bursitis, Tendonitis, headaches, and migraines. Just because you have a sit/stand desk at your workstation doesn’t guarantee you are free from poor ergonomic posture. Economics affects everyone, from someone who works 20 hours or 70 hours per week to parents who lift their child regardless of their age and size. If you are not being efficient with your posture, your body will tell you, and your performance will be affected as well.
Ergonomic Evaluations
Spicereddy Chiropractic focuses’ on prevention, which includes ergonomic evaluations to reduce your lower back pain, neck pain, and headaches. If you catch yourself with shoulder or arm pain after working for long hours, stop by Spicereddy Chiropractic, you are an excellent candidate for an evaluation. Dr. Spicereddy encourages all patients to bring in photos of them sitting in their workspace to evaluate if there is a cause for pain or potential conditions like low back pain or neck pain in the future. From there, Dr. Spicereddy will work to make simple modifications including the following items:
the height and size of your chair, often times a few minor changes here can bring about noticeable relief and encourage proper sitting habits for those long days of working up to deadlines.
the height of your workstation, whether it is a desk or a workbench, your space needs to work with your body, not the other way around.
