Back Pain Treatment in San Mateo
Do you ever have that nagging sensation in your back? That feeling like you need a massage or to roll it out with a tennis ball? Sometimes these remedies help, or the least help for a little while then the pain returns. Sound familiar to you or someone you know? You may find some relief that you’re not alone, but what may surprise you to know that dogs, cats, lizards can also experience back pain. Spicer Chiropractic has been providing back pain treatment to San Mateo and the surrounding communities for years. Chiropractic is a natural way to treat back pain.
Common Causes of Back Pain
Back pain can be caused by a variety of conditions and situations. Scoliosis, for example, commonly develops while a person is still growing, especially during the teenage years, but new research shows that we can develop a scoliotic curvature as an adult with a variety of patterns throughout the day, from working in a desk to playing an asymmetrical sport, like baseball or golf. The asymmetrical postures or simply bad postures feedback pain and can cause additional issues. Back pain is also caused by poor lifting techniques such as a parent putting their kids into a car seat or being in a car accident.
What options are used to treat it?
Treatment options for back pain also vary. Chiropractic is a conservative approach that returns function and controls pain, a first step worth exploring. Other options include medication and surgery. When you go to a Chiropractor first, we will evaluate and when appropriate make recommendations for adjustment the affected area(s). When you go to a medical doctor first, more often then not they will prescribe medication and refer to surgery. Neither direction is wrong, but if my loved one is having back pain you bet, I’m sending them to a chiropractor in San Mateo first, as they are often surprised by how effective treatments work, with time and money saved.
Dr. Spicer Provides San Mateo Back Pain Treatment
If you or someone you know is experiencing back pain, give us a call. Not all of San Mateo’s chiropractors are created equal as we have various backgrounds and focus. I have studied and practiced various types of Chiropractic and Physio Therapy treatments, all of which have given me the tools to cater to each patient’s individual needs. In addition to gentle treatments, I also address soft tissue (muscles) balance and strength, and I ask for participation by my patients by giving each person their own set of home exercises to address their needs.
